Course summary
Do you enjoy working creatively and collaboratively? Do you want to gain the knowledge and skills needed to build apps such as websites and design, develop and deploy new products to solve real-world problems? Our Computer Science course places a strong emphasis on the creative and soft skills that will enable you to thrive in a sector that is constantly evolving. To respond to the growing demand for digital graduates with a blend of technical and transferable skills, we’ve designed our Computer Science degree in partnership with leading tech employers such as Sky and Infinity Works. You’ll work on real-world projects set by employers with the opportunity to specialise in some of the most exciting areas of technology such as artificial intelligence, cyber security and software engineering. Don’t know your Python from your Java? No problem. We’ll teach you everything you need to know to design, develop, test and launch new products, as well as the soft skills tech employers need for you to be part of a flexible and dynamic team. Tech employers are involved in every aspect of the degree, from inputting into the modules you’ll study, to setting some of the projects you’ll work on. You’ll meet them through coordinated tech events when they’ll deliver guest lectures, and you’ll work with them during the professional work placements included in your degree. By the time you graduate, you’ll have had the opportunity to develop the skills that employers want, as well as the connections and experience to stand out in the digital jobs market. Professional work placements We work closely with a wealth of tech companies in the Leeds city region to secure professional placement opportunities which will help you further develop your skills and confidence in the workplace. Recent placement providers include Sky, Infinity Works, Aire Logic and TwentySix Digital. Graduate opportunities Modern computer science roles are numerous and varied, ranging from AI developer to UX/UI designer, Scrum Master and Cyber Security Analyst.
