Modules

Students achieve an Edexcel BTEC Level 4 HNC Certificate having studied 8 units totalling 120 credits. Year 1: Programming Networking Professional Practice Database Design & Development Security Planning a Computer Project (Pearson Set) Software Development Lifecycles (Specialist Mandatory) Website Design & Development As a student of Crawley College, you will have access to all of our services, which includes study support, the Students Union and our library's online resources. Skills and experience gained: Learners studying for Computing for England will be expected to develop the following skills during the programme of study: • ability to integrate a range of concepts, knowledge and skills relating to computing and systems development • ability to apply complex theories to practical realistic work situations in the computing sector • independence of approach to study and the generation of computing evidence • ability to engage with complex and/or unpredictable situations in computing contexts • ability to take responsibility to manage and direct their own and others’ activities • insight and judgement in relation to the margins and consequences of error • research and investigative skills • responsiveness to change and ability to multitask • ability to innovate and work in a creative way

Assessment method

Assessment will be through assignments. Each outcome or module will be assessed by a project-style assignment. The method of assessment has been designed to encourage continuous written and verbal feedback throughout the course to ensure the highest grade attainable for each unit in conjunction with the highest quality education.
