Course summary

Our BA (Hons) Visual Communication (with Integrated Foundation Year and Professional Practice Year) is a five year degree programme, including a foundation year to help develop your creativity before you embark on year one of a degree. Your fourth academic year would then include a year in industry placement. If creating images and telling stories is your thing, then our BA (Hons) Visual Communications degree course at UCA Canterbury blends the very best of graphic design, illustration, animation, moving image and photography skills into one – and gives you a broad brush of skills from which to build an amazing career. Visual communication is commercial, social, public, and political, shaping the meaning and impact of apps, websites, posters, books, magazine advertisements, games, logos, film titles, and countless other media. Everywhere you look, designers are using words and images to persuade, inform and educate, and this course encourages you to think conceptually and apply technical skills in all forms of design practice. With dedicated studios for personal and group working, digital media suites with Macs running industry design software, and photography studios for processing and printing – you’ll have access to everything you need to develop the key principles and skills of a professional visual communication practitioner. Throughout the course, you’ll investigate and explore the potential of a range of specific themes and approaches to contemporary practices and craft skills. You'll also benefit from interaction with industry through live project opportunities, building industry-relevant skills that ensure you graduate ready for the workplace. Related courses
