Course summary

This full-time MSc brings together the two areas of healthcare leadership and management. The course is designed to help you develop into a professional who can lead change and drive innovation. You'll gain the knowledge and skills to make smart decisions in healthcare settings. By studying our MSc Management and Healthcare Leadership, you'll find out what it means to be a leader in a dynamic healthcare world. You will learn:

  • How healthcare systems are run
  • How to lead people and teams
  • How to manage change in complex organisations
You'll also study the core principles of business management. You will learn how these skills apply to the healthcare sector. This MSc responds directly to the international demand for healthcare leaders and managers. It will prepare you to lead real change across systems that matter the most. The course combines rigorous business education with sector-specific leadership training. This will prepare you for management and leadership roles within healthcare systems across the world. You’ll be taught by staff from both the School of Health Sciences and the School of Business. This will give you the opportunity to learn from experts across both areas. You’ll begin with the core business modules, delivered by the School of Business. These cover the essential foundations of organisational leadership:
  • Operations Management and Change
  • Strategic Management and Organisational Analysis
  • Marketing Management and Strategy
  • Managing People and Organisations
  • Management Project Report
You’ll then build on this foundation with four dedicated healthcare leadership modules. These are taught by the School of Health Sciences:
  • Global Healthcare Leadership
  • Leadership in Healthcare Organisations
  • Leading Innovation and Change in Healthcare Organisations
  • Developing Leadership Skills for Healthcare
This structured, fixed-pathway means every student receives a consistent and integrated education. You will also undertake a Management Project Report. This will give you the opportunity to specialise, gain practical experience, or engage in applied research. By studying this course, you will also benefit from:
  • a CMI-accredited degree, giving you access to dual recognition and enhanced employability.
  • AACSB accreditation, which is held by fewer than 6% of business schools worldwide.
  • an interdisciplinary teaching model, learning from experts across the University
  • internship support through Impact and growing ties with NHS Tayside, one of Scotland’s major healthcare employers.
As a graduate of this course, you will have gained a range of skills, insights, and professional experience. These will help you to make meaningful impact in a future career in healthcare management.
