Course summary

Celtic Studies provides the opportunity to combine language study with a range of courses on the medieval and modern Celtic cultures of the British Isles. The BMus is a single-subject degree for those who are interested in pursuing a career in music. It provides a strong grounding in core disciplines and allows you to pursue your specialist interests in third and fourth years. Why study this course at the University of Glasgow? You will have the opportunity to study the medieval and modern cultures of Celtic-speaking peoples with scholars at the cutting edge of research, and learn a Celtic language of the British Isles. You will be given a bursary towards the cost of private instrumental or vocal tuition. Career Prospects? Recent graduates have entered a range of careers including primary and secondary teaching; working with museums and government heritage bodies; publishing and book marketing; music; entrepreneurship. Others have gone on to further study and to pursue successfully a career in research and academic work. The BMus degree provides a strong foundation for careers in performance, composition, research & teaching, music administration, journalism, publishing and librarianship. It provides an unusual breadth of strong transferable skills which are applicable to a wide range of careers outside music.
