Course summary
This is a 2-year full-time programme run by Leicester College and the National Space Centre Creative – Immersive Academy. The Higher National Certificate (HNC) is completed in year one and Higher National Diploma (HND) in year two. Upon completion of the 2-year HND, students can top-up to a full degree in TV Film Production or other relevant subject area. The course is aimed at people who work or who wish to work in the TV and Film industries. The HNC Level 4 course is a natural progression route for students that have previously studied TV and Film, Creative Media or any lens-based media programme but would also be suitable for those with a background in other visual arts such as Photography or Graphics. Units focus on the creative and technical aspects of TV and Film from Pre-production to Delivery, offering an integrated blend of classroom instruction, studio work, and location filming. Our TV and Film facilities at Leicester College include a Filming Studio with green screen and live video broadcasting environment, podcasting space and multiple editing suites for both moving image and audio editing. You will have access to a wide range of the latest cameras from camcorders to DSLRs to 360 action cameras plus a range of sound recording equipment and image stabilizers for all manner of shooting scenarios. You will also study at the National Space Centre, a world-leading immersive creative studio and an established City Centre Design and Media educational provider. There you will have the opportunity to engage in 3D modelling, animation, motion graphics and visual effects using software such as Blender and After Effects, all of which will enrich your filmmaking credentials for both fiction and non-fiction.

Qualification requirements
UCAS Tariff - 32 points
Standard entry to this course requires a minimum of 32 UCAS points from a recognised level 3 qualification in a related subject (i.e. two A2s at grade D, extended diploma PPP, or an Access to HE). You are expected to hold GCSE English and maths at grade 4/C or equivalent. We welcome applicants who do not match standard entry requirements but who can demonstrate the ability to study this subject at university level and who can evidence relevant experience. An interview and Portfolio review is also part of the entry requirements. Mature Students without any prior knowledge of the subject area can also successfully apply for the course but an interview would be an essential part of their application process. Tv and Film is a diverse area that requires a broad range of skills and talent, at this stage it is only essential that you have the drive and passion to learn about a variety of aspects of Moving Image, perhaps with an ambition to work within the industry.
