This flexible and practice-based master’s course in Advanced Counselling and Psychotherapy Studies (Supervision) is designed for fully qualified, professional counsellors and psychotherapists. Structured around an in-depth clinical supervision training module, this course allows you to advance your expertise in counselling and psychotherapy in the areas most relevant to your professional practice. The programme enables you to:

Modules

  • Year one, trimester one: Bereavement and Loss (Online), Research Methods, Evidencing Personal and Professional Development (Online), Compassion Focused Therapy (Online).
  • Year one, trimester two: Expressive Therapies, Research Methods, Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness (Online), Evidencing Personal and Professional Development (Online), CBT for Children and Young People, Counselling and Psychotherapy for Children and Young People.
- Year one, trimester three: Dissertation.

Assessment method

Evaluation includes both formative and summative assessments. Formative assessments, such as peer reviews, quizzes, and discussions, help track progress and prepare for summative evaluations. Summative assessments consist of written essays, portfolios, presentations, and a supervised research dissertation, all focused on theory and practice.

Due to the structure of this programme, it is not available to applicants requiring a Student Visa.

Entry requirements

To apply, you must be a qualified or soon-to-be qualified counsellor or psychotherapist with professional membership. This post-qualification course is designed for practising professionals seeking advanced study in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Those without relevant qualifications are not eligible. Accredited counsellors or psychotherapists (BACP or UKCP) can access specific entry routes. Those with a degree may fast-track through the MSc with 60 M-level credits. Without a degree, you can apply directly. If you have existing M-level credits, you may enter directly into year two or, with a PGDip, into year three for the Dissertation only.
