Course summary

As organisations are becoming increasingly complex, the role of human resource management has never been more vital. In this degree, you’ll study the factors that shape the way people work, and the skills you’ll need to become a great manager. At Leicester, our human resource management courses will transform your outlook on how society’s resources are managed by engaging with our world-leading academic knowledge and carefully-designed modules. You will be among the first to study at our new £16 million Brookfield campus, with facilities exclusive to our School of Business students. If you are fascinated by the relationship between employers and employees then our Human Resource Management BA is for you. We will expose you to the realities of the managerial experience in both the public and private sectors, and the relevance of theory for the solution of management problems. You will to combine your studies of management with a specialist focus on organisational studies. This allows you to acquire a wide range of critical and analytical skills, along with a range of communication and team-working skills, which will be directly transferable to the workplace whatever career you choose to follow. You will gain a comprehensive grounding in the functions of management and its role in successfully managing people and organisations. This is underpinned by critical analysis of the organisational context in which managers and employees work. All our lives at work are shaped by the cultural, legal and economic factors of labour markets and this course will prepare you to engage with these issues in critical and practical ways. You will be inspired to question the ethical and social responsibilities of the organisations that affect all our lives whether as customers, employees or citizens. We are accredited by, and an approved provider of CIPD qualifications, the professional body for HR and people development. In addition all of our business and management degrees are dual accredited with ILM, the UK's leading Leadership and Management Awarding Organisation. This means you can gain ILM's Level 4 Award in Leadership and Management subject to passing the relevant modules. The first year of this degree is shared with the following degrees: Business and Management BA Marketing BA This means that you will have the option to switch to any of our other business management BA degrees at the end of your first year. Our courses will provide you with an in-depth understanding of contemporary management techniques, and will allow you to develop the skills to become an effective and socially responsible manager in local and global arenas, whether in public, private or third sector organisations and enterprises.

Additional fee information

The tuition fee for home students is reviewed annually and for the academic year 2024/5 it is £9,250. The fees for following years have not yet been decided but are likely to increase each year in line with inflation, subject to government regulations. The inflation rate used will be RPIX, which includes all the items in the Retail Price Index, excluding mortgage payments. For your information, the inflation rate used by the Government when increasing the tuition fee from £9,000 to £9,250 was 2.8%.
