Our International Politics course looks at contemporary global problems and explores different approaches to their solution overall. Made up of both core and optional modules as well as a 15,000-word dissertation, you’ll develop great listening and debate skills and learn to shape your arguments in a professional way. This course will help teach you about the current approaches to international relations studies as well as more general skills in writing, research, public speaking and logical analysis. If you’re interested in a particular area such as foreign policy, global society, regional integration, environmental politics, or strategic and security studies, you can choose them as optional modules.

Assessment method
Our International Politics programme is made up of core and optional modules and a 15,000-word dissertation. For a full Masters degree, you'll study 180 credits over the duration of your course. Some programmes offer a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) qualification or a Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) qualification. For a PGDip, you'll study 120 credits, and for a PGCert, you'll study 60 credits. You will develop key professional and research skills, as well as an understanding of ethical business practice. You will also undertake a final research project, which can be either a dissertation or a business-based project.
How to apply
International applicants
If you require a Student visa to study or if your first language is not English you will be required to provide acceptable evidence of your English language proficiency level. This course requires academic IELTS 6.5 overall, with no less than 5.5 in each skill. If your English currently does not reach the required standard, you may be interested in our pre-sessional English Language programmes. Entry requirements
This programme is designed for graduates from any discipline with a strong interest in International Politics. However, we do recommend that you have a basic knowledge and understanding of this area. You should have a minimum of a 2:2 Honours degree (or international equivalent) in subject areas such as Politics, International Politics (or Relations), History, Philosophy, PPE, Sociology, or similar humanities and social science subjects In order to ensure our students have a rich learning and student experience, most of our programmes have a mix of domestic and international students. We reserve the right to close applications early to either group, if application volumes suggest that this blend cannot be achieved. In addition, existing undergraduate students at the University of Hull have a guaranteed ‘Fast Track’ route to any postgraduate programme, subject to meeting the entry criteria.
