Our Mechanical Engineering BEng(Hons) with integrated foundation year course offers an extra year to prepare you for degree-level study. Choosing the foundation year means you’ll enter your degree fully prepared. You’ll feel at home on campus, have established relationships with the staff in your academic school, and most important you’ll be excited about your subject. You’ll be well-equipped to dive into your degree from day one. When you successfully complete the foundation year, you can progress to the Mechanical Engineering BEng(Hons) when you’ll work with other engineering students and innovative researchers on challenging and rewarding projects, such as fighting robots, rocket cars, and the international Engineering Without Borders challenge. Modules
Your foundation year will top up your qualifications and prepare you for the BEng course. In your first degree year, conceptual design, manufacturing and testing are combined in a design project. When you reach your second year, you will explore various aspects of mechanical engineering in more depth. After your second year, you may opt to put your studies into practice on a year-long industrial placement. In your final year, you are taught business and management skills essential for the modern professional engineer.
