Course summary
Explore the essential skills required to thrive in today’s dynamic music industry This degree is subject to validation. Updated for September 2025, the new Popular Music Performance Degree offers students the opportunity to expand their sonic palette and musicianship skills. This course gives students access to industry-standard facilities and rehearsal rooms each with a dedicated PA system drum kit and a variety of guitar amplifiers and keyboards/digital pianos. We aim to provide students with real industry scenarios and gig opportunities, enabling them to gain the knowledge and understanding of what goes into creating, rehearsing and performing a finished product. The course also encourages creative growth for students working on their own composition skills. The research aspects of the course will encourage students to find their passion and push the boundaries of the industry as we currently know it. The course is suited to seasoned musicians who want to learn more about what goes into being a performing artist, as well as those who are newer to the subject but want to expand their knowledge. The Popular Music Performance course also undertakes modules based in the studio. This is to enable performers and songwriters to be able to produce and mix their own work to reach their full creative potential.
