Course summary
Emerging technologies such as self-driving cars or reusable spacecraft or Drones are increasingly relying on the design and deployment of autonomous systems. This programme will prepare you to face the challenges of a global market with emphasis on autonomous vehicles and mobile robots operating in ground, air, and space. You will gain in-depth knowledge of recent advances in the theory and practice of Robotics, Machine Learning, Image Processing, Human-Machine Teaming, Communication, and Control. You will also develop valuable software and hardware skills via extensive lab work in programming and embedded systems design, through industrial design projects. In addition to the technical part of the programme, you will be introduced to the legal and regulations framework of Autonomous Systems, and the ethical issues arising from their deployment. The programme is suited for new graduates and Engineering professionals who want to advance their understanding of the field and are interested in pursuing a career in one of the emerging application areas related to Systems Autonomy and Artificial Intelligence.
Entry requirements
The programme is designed for those who have a second class degree, as minimum, in engineering and computer science. Applicants with a background in mathematics or life sciences with good mathematical skills (in linear algebra and calculus in particular) will also be considered. Competence in an object-oriented programming language (preferable Python) is desirable.
