- Whatever your topic, you have your first supervisor in Art Psychotherapy and may have your second in another department – Art, Educational Studies, Psychology, or Sociology, for example.
- For MPhil and PhD study, you usually register for research by written thesis (although there are also possibilities for research based on a written element and studio practice).

Assessment is by a thesis and viva voce.
Entry requirements
You should normally have (or expect to be awarded) a taught Masters in Art Therapy/Art Psychotherapy. You might also be considered if you aren’t a graduate or your degree is in an unrelated field, but have relevant experience and can show that you have the ability to work at postgraduate level. If English isn’t your first language, you will need an IELTS score (or equivalent English language qualification) of 6.5 with a 6.5 in writing and no element lower than 6.0 to study this programme.
