Assessment method

Most modules are assessed by individual assignments, such as essays and work based reports. Some modules will be assessed by examination, and some may require group project work and the delivery of a presentation. Course assessments are categorised into two types – formative and summative. Formative assessments refer to the peer and tutor feedback you’ll receive. It may be delivered formally or informally, and is used in a developmental way to assist your learning - but it does not contribute towards the final mark of the module. Summative assessments are used to formally measure your capabilities against the learning outcomes of each module. Summative assessments may include the following:  Writing on key topics such as COP26, Industry 4.0 and their impact on businesses   Presenting business cases or strategic business proposals  Coaching and mentoring focused assessments Self-reflective writing and career plans for employability post MBA  Presenting business cases or strategic business proposals On successful completion of all modules, students will undertake an end-of-programme major project focusing on a business and management topic of their choice. In order to ensure our students have a rich learning and student experience, most of our programmes have a mix of domestic and international students. We reserve the right to close applications early to either group, if application volumes suggest that this blend cannot be achieved. In addition, existing undergraduate students at the University of Hull have a guaranteed ‘Fast Track’ route to any postgraduate programme, subject to meeting the entry criteria (excluding Social Work).

International applicants

If you require a Student visa to study or if your first language is not English you will be required to provide acceptable evidence of your English language proficiency level. This course requires academic IELTS 6.5 overall, with no less than 6.0 in each skill. See other English language proficiency qualifications accepted by this University. If your English currently does not reach the University's required standard for this programme, you may be interested in one of our English language courses.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements To be eligible for admission, applicants should normally possess A minimum of 3 years appropriate and relevant post graduate work experience An good undergraduate degree (normally 2:1 or above) awarded by a UK university or comparable overseas institution, or an equivalent professional qualification Non-native English speakers must have a minimum of IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each skill) As this is a part-time programme, the restrictions for those who come to study in the UK using a part-time visa are more restrictive than those studying on a full-time course. If you would like more information about these restrictions, please contact [email protected] Applicants without an undergraduate degree or equivalent professional qualification Applicants who do not have a degree or equivalent professional qualification but meet the other eligibility criteria may submit a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate that they can benefit from, contribute to and succeed on the Executive MBA programme. The applicant should have completed approximately seven years of full-time appropriate work or professional experience. A portfolio may include, for example, details of significant work projects carried out, information about strategic analyses undertaken (for example, budgets and strategic forecasts), company reports, or other contributions to policy formulation and implementation. The portfolio might also include information about other courses taken, and training and development programmes attended. The aim is to demonstrate that the applicant’s business knowledge and experience are sufficient to allow them to fulfil the academic requirements of the Hull Executive MBA. Eligible candidates must also submit A University of Hull postgraduate application form, completed and signed A current detailed CV A 200-word personal statement indicating what you hope to gain from the Executive MBA and the contribution you would make to the programme Two good certified work references Proof of qualifications to date Interview As the final stage of the application process, applicants who have satisfied all other conditions will be interviewed by Business School staff, either by telephone or in person. The interview also provides an opportunity for the applicant to ask questions about particular aspects of the Executive MBA, and to receive further information about the programme of study.
