Course summary

Learn to produce art-related assets for computer games. You’ll develop core skills and industry-standard practice in modelling, texturing and animation. You can also choose to take a year in industry. KEY FEATURES OF THE COURSE

  • SKILL SET: You’ll learn to work with a core set of tools: Maya, ZBrush and Unreal® Engine
  • CREATIVITY: You will create game content in teams and also work with students from the Computer Games Programming degree – working collaboratively like this is what happens in the industry, so it’s great preparation for when you graduate.
  • OPPORTUNITIES AND EXPERIENCES: We encourage you to enter competitions and showcase your work at our annual Games Expo, which attracts leading UK gaming companies. To give yourself the edge, choose to take the year in industry too
HOW YOU WILL LEARN There’s a mixture of lectures, tutorials and practical sessions. You’ll also hear regular talks from industry experts and have the opportunity to do work for genuine clients. YOUR CAREER The computer games industry is one of the largest and fastest growing entertainment industries in the world so your employment prospects should be good. You will graduate from Computer Games Modelling and Animation with the skills to create and animate 3D art in a real-time environment using the latest techniques. This means you’ll be suitable for a range of specialised 3D art roles, not only in computer games but in the film and visualisation industries too. STUDY OPTIONS This course is also available with a Foundation Year option. This course is also available with a Placement Year option.
