Course summary
Embark on your career as you study nursing on our innovative and research-based BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing degree at Canterbury Christ Church University. Not only will you gain the vital skills needed for you to be a confident and competent professional, but you’ll also be able to register with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) upon graduation. The Foundation Year prepares you for further studies in health and social care. It provides a supportive environment where you can grow in confidence and develop the knowledge and academic skills that you need to study at undergraduate level. Your course will start with exploring the role of the nurse in contemporary healthcare and the fundamentals of compassionate person-centred nursing practice. Throughout the first year you will study with nursing students from the other fields of nursing, taking part in simulated practice learning and undertake clinical practice placements. Years two and three will focus on your chosen field and will ensure you become a professional and competent newly qualified nurse. From day one, you'll be immersed in nursing practice and supported by academics and professionals with vast experience. Practice placements and simulation will be an integral part of your experience, and you will be supported by a range of academic staff passionate about nursing. You will be learning in state-of-the-art simulation facilities and using the latest virtual reality technology to practice nursing in a safe and supportive environment. From working with experts by experience to working in acute care, our Adult Nursing degree will prepare you for a challenging, yet the most rewarding, career. What’s more, you'll gain essential work experience whilst studying adult nursing at university, enhancing your skills and employability upon graduation. Professional accreditation On completion of the course, you will be eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Adult Nurse. Our newly approved course meets the NMC 2023 standards. Specialist facilities As a healthcare student, you will have access to our specialist, industry-relevant, simulation facilities at Canterbury and Medway campuses. These simulation suites allow you to practise hands-on skills in a fully-equipped, realistic hospital environment. Home (UK) Fees:
Home (UK) tuition fees for Foundation Years at Canterbury Christ Church University will be set in line with the maximum tuition fee cap for foundation years in classroom-based subjects or non-classroom-based subjects, as set by the UK Government. Home (UK) tuition fees for subsequent years 1-3 are currently set in line with the maximum tuition fee cap for standard undergraduate degrees set by the UK Government, currently £9,535. However, this is subject to any changes to the maximum tuition fee cap, or any other changes to regulated undergraduate tuition fees, that might be subsequently approved by Parliament for the 2026/27 academic year onwards.
International Tuition Fees (including EU fees):
Undergraduate tuition fees for International students are not subject to the Government’s regulations on maximum tuition fees. Sponsorship information
Once you have successfully completed the Foundation Year, you will be eligible for extra funding from the government. Students on a nursing, midwifery and many allied health courses will be eligible to apply for an NHS Learning Support Fund of at least £5,000 a year to help with living costs. Eligible students may also be awarded additional funding up to £3,000 a year. This money will not need to be repaid.
