Course summary
This online, flexible and distributed learning (FDL) MSc in Food Technology for Industry aims to develop food manufacturing industry staff, particularly those working in technical quality assurance and new product development, with specific reference and application to their own practice. This applied programme is intended to challenge the preconceptions and practice of participants, as well as developing their knowledge, skills and competencies. No attendance at the university is required for this programme, since it is delivered by electronic means only.
Assessment method
This is a distance learning programme and the approaches place a strong emphasis on application of theoretical structure to real problems and situations. To reflect the applied nature of study, teaching and assessment will focus on case studies, exercises and scenarios reflecting actual issues in food companies in which the students are located. For each module, students complete a number of Patchwork assessments which together build to enable to student to demonstrate the learning outcomes of the programme.
Entry requirements
BSc in Food Science/Technology or relevant honours degree in science; however, candidates with other relevant qualifications or experience will be considered, particularly if they can demonstrate substantial senior-level experience in within the food industry. In addition, all candidates must normally be able to demonstrate a minimum of 3 years experience in a relevant setting.
