This course is designed to create experienced, savvy graduates, ready for exciting media positions. You'll acquire both the management skills and the media expertise that you need to excel in the dynamic creative industries. This course offers a two year work experience route including a placement of up to 12 months. How you learn All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive. Your studies will comprise of eight taught modules, as well as a major project alongside or within an organisation. You'll learn how to exploit the latest digital media technologies and platforms, across interactive, social and mobile content, as well as the management of digital media businesses, organisations and teams. You'll gain a solid theoretical grounding and useful practical experience - building a eye-catching portfolio to show prospective employers - and work with the award winning Venture Matrix to enhance your employability and enterprise skills. You learn through:

Work placements As well as your taught modules, you'll have the opportunity to undertake The Digital Media Management Project, a module that allows students to work with or within organisations on projects to enhance a company or organisation. You will have the opportunity to go on a work placement for up to 12 months. You are supported in finding placements and can apply for a vacancy as you would like a job. There are dedicated sessions to support you in CV writing, interview skills and job applications. The placement starts in your second year and most are paid. Apply for the placement route by selecting the two year course length. Live projects Throughout the course, you will be expected to work on real client briefs, providing you vital industry experience and material for your portfolio. Field trips A number of industry days and events are also held on campus and within the Sheffield Cultural Industries Quarter, where you'll take part in workshops, talks, and exhibitions held by creative media industry representatives, professionals, and companies/ organisations. These activities give a window to the world of work and opportunities that lie ahead. Where will I study? You study at City Campus through a structured mix of lectures, seminars and practical sessions as well as access to digital and online resources to support your learning.

Entry requirements

An honours degree (2.2 or above) or equivalent in any subject. Overseas applicants from countries whose first language is not English must normally produce evidence of competence in English. An IELTS score of 6.0 with 5.5 in all skills (or equivalent) is the standard for non-native speakers of English. If your English language skill is currently below an IELTS score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills we recommend you consider a Sheffield Hallam University Pre-sessional English course which will enable you to achieve an equivalent English level.
