The Children and Young People (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities SEND) FdA Level 5 is awarded by the University of Derby and has been developed with sector employers and designed to help you to develop skills and knowledge to support children and young people with SEND. All of the modules will directly relate to your working environment to help you to evaluate and understand practice in more depth. As a University of Derby partner student, you will have access to the university’s virtual learning environment, including University of Derby Online (UDO) and online journals and texts, as well as library facilities. Modules Include: Higher Education Study Skills Ethical Practice, Attitudes and Values Work Based Reflective Practice International Professional Working with Children and Young People Introduction to SEND The Curriculum 0-25 Research Methods and Practice Secondary Research Supporting Learners with SEND International Perspectives in Provision and Practice: Working with Children and Young People Children Young People’s Family Rights Understanding and Managing Speech, Language and Communication Difficulties Throughout this course, you will develop confidence in areas such as: Policy and practice for SEND Your role and ongoing professional development Knowledge for being a highly effective practitioner

Entry requirements

Qualification requirements

Applicants must be aged 18 or over and working directly with children or young people aged 0-25 years in a voluntary or paid capacity for a minimum of two days a week. In order to study the Children and Young People (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities SEND) FdA Level 5, you will need to have successfully completed one of the following: NVQ 3 A Levels BTEC National Certificate BTEC National Diploma CACHE or NNEB award Open College Network Credits Access to Higher Education course All applications are subject to approval by the University of Derby (UoD). In order for the University to approve your application we are required to share your personal information. This includes sharing the application form that you have completed to study this course, and in some instances, copies of your maths, English and highest-level qualification certificate.
