Children’s nursing is very popular and this two-year postgraduate course will enable you to become a registered children’s nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). You’ll learn to provide evidence-based care for children and young people (birth to age 18), working in partnership with their families and with other health and social care professionals. You’ll spend your time learning about child development in healthy children and in children who are acutely ill or need complex, high dependency or palliative care. Placement opportunities are at London’s leading NHS hospitals such as Great Ormond Street, St George’s, St Helier, Kingston, Royal Marsden, Chelsea and Westminster and Croydon Hospitals, as well as in community settings.

Entry requirements

Qualification requirements

A health or science-related degree is preferred at 2:2 or above taken in the last five years. Health and science-related degrees could include health studies, psychology, physiology, biology, social sciences or related studies to the above. A minimum of 650 hours health or social care related experience. Applications will be required to complete an RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) claim form to demonstrate evidence of the 650 hours. Successful achievement of this form, along with a testimony, are conditions for entry to the programme. At least five GCSEs including Maths & English (with a Science subject preferred) at grade 4 or above are also required.
