Course summary

We welcome enquiries from students and researchers keen to pursue an MPhil/PhD in research in the areas of Organisation and Management; Accounting, Economics and Finance; and Advertising and Marketing

Assessment method

The MPhil requires a shorter thesis than a PhD, but you will still need to complete an oral examination (viva) to qualify. A successful thesis will demonstrate an appropriate ability to conduct an original investigation, to test ideas, whether your own or those of others, and to understand the relationship of the topic or theme investigated to a wider field of knowledge


Entry requirements

The minimal qualification for MPhil applicants is: • A good bachelor's degree in a relevant subject • An excellent research proposal • All candidates must have successfully completed an English-medium course of study with a substantial research element A British masters degree is often preferred as evidence of experience in research within the British system. The majority of students in TESOL also have professional experience.

The fees above are for the 2025/26 academic year but may be subject to change following any announcements by the UK Government (approved by Parliament) regarding maximum Undergraduate tuition fee caps for 2025/26. In addition, the University reserves the right to increase all full-time and part-time Undergraduate tuition fees mid-course, in line with any further inflationary increase in the Government tuition fee cap which is approved by Parliament. The University will publish information about any changes to tuition fees on its website. International Tuition Fees (including EU fees): To be confirmed Undergraduate tuition fees for International students are not subject to the Government’s regulations on maximum tuition fees.
