Course summary
The online MLitt in Museums, Heritage and Society prepares students for employment in museums and heritage organisations with broad training in all types of museums, galleries and other heritage facilities. We aim to train future curators and heritage practitioners with critical skills to engage with society and contribute to positive changes in the sector. The MLitt in Museums, Heritage and Society is a taught postgraduate online programme run by the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Studies, in association with the School of Art History and the Museums of the University of St Andrews. The MLitt is aimed at students wanting to start a career in museum and heritage work, or for those looking for a mid-career change. The Museums, Heritage and Society programme is online and self-paced, with options to study for a PGCert, PGDip, or MLitt.
Entry requirements
- For entry onto the MLitt: A 2.1 undergraduate Honours degree in any subject from the UK or the equivalent international qualification. If you studied your first degree outside the UK, see the international entry requirements. - We will also consider applicants who do not have an undergraduate degree. In these circumstances we expect candidates to have at least five years of relevant professional learning. The Admissions team will holistically assess your application and determine the best route of entry for you. In some cases, this may be onto the PGCert in the first instance from which students who attain a certain level in their modules will have the opportunity to progress to a full Masters degree. - Students are also required to have a desired level of English language proficiency.
