Course summary
Southampton’s flexible, full-time or part-time MSc, PG Cert or PGDip Public Health Management programmes will help you learn how to assess the need for, and management of, public health programmes. Gain key management skills such as leadership, risk analysis and cost-effectiveness as you work in multi-disciplinary teams on real-world tasks. This MSc Public Health Management degree will give you the skills for a management career that makes a difference. Graduates of this master's have gone on to work for the government and public bodies both in the UK and abroad. These include Public Health England, local government and ministries of health.
Assessment method
Our assessment methods enable you to demonstrate achievement of the programme’s learning outcomes as you progress through each module. You will encounter a variety of approaches to assessment that will help you demonstrate your knowledge and understanding through utilisation of a range of study skills. The assessment methods are designed to help you integrate theory with practice, develop your skills of critical thinking and analysis, and achieve mastery in your field of public health. The range of assessment methods may include: written exams and essays, position papers, reports and briefings, team debates, gap analysis, research proposals.
Entry requirements
To apply for this healthcare management degree you'll need at least a 2:1 degree in one of the following subjects: Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Physiology, Psychology, Demography, Human/Health Geography, Pharmacy, Medicine and Dentistry. You must be able to demonstrate your competence in Statistics, Epidemiology, Research Methods through previous study at undergraduate level. We are unfortunately unable to accept degrees in the following subjects: Nursing, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Occupational Health and Phlebotomy. This course is also available as an intercalation degree for undergraduate medical students. You must submit all supporting documents, including evidence that you can satisfy our English language requirement, when you submit your application.
