On the BA (Hons) Film Production course, you’ll bring your original ideas to life on the big screen. Immerse yourself in a curriculum that mirrors the dynamism of the film industry, equipping you with the essential skills and attributes for exciting roles within this rapidly developing field. Team working is at the heart of your journey. You'll work together with talented collaborators throughout the creative process—developing imaginative concepts, realising captivating designs, and mastering the intricacies of screenwriting, producing, production design, sound, cinematography, editing, and directing. Our unique learning model places students in real-world production settings, allowing aspiring filmmakers to work closely with actors, makeup and costume artists. You’ll gain a broad understanding of filmmaking while developing specialist knowledge of various roles and their unique skill sets. Our hands-on experience boosts employability, targeting industry skills gaps and nurturing both practical knowledge and individual resilience. Reflecting the Arts University’s ethos, this course emphasises practical learning within a supportive academic environment. Alongside practical filmmaking, you’ll study cinema in breadth and depth, exploring fiction and non-fiction, experimental and commercial filmmaking, enriching your knowledge of film culture and deepening your artistic exploration. Cultivating Career-Ready Skills BFS is famous for its network of graduates, who work together and look out for each other long after they have finished their studies. Our former students work on major studio productions and produce independent work large and small, winning Oscars and BAFTAs. Between your second and third year of study, you have the option of taking a Professional Placement Year. Qualification requirements

We are happy to accept a wide range of qualifications, including but not limited to: A Levels, BTEC Extended Diploma, OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma, BTEC Subsidiary Diploma(s), Access to HE courses, Scottish Highers, IB Diploma Programme, Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. We can also accept many EU and International qualifications. See website for details. Email Admissions ([email protected]) with any queries about entry requirements. We welcome applicants who are currently studying or who have gained a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design and this qualification meets our level three entry requirements. This is a recommended qualification for many of our courses but it is not a compulsory qualification. Other relevant and equivalent Level 3 qualifications are considered on an individual basis and we are happy to accept applicants with a combination of Level 3 qualifications. Please check your qualifications using UCAS Tariff calculator and remember we are looking for the equivalent of 3 A levels if you are combining Level 3 qualifications. AUB tailors its offers to the qualifications an applicant is studying and looks for applicant to be studying a relevant creative subject. AUB makes offers based on up to three A Levels or equivalent Level 3 qualifications with the most UCAS Tariff points attached to them to give applicants the best chance possible at achieving our required tariff (120 UCAS Tariff points in most cases).

Please note that subject to the relevant legislation being passed in parliament, the UK Government have proposed tuition fees for the 2026/27 academic year of £9535 per annum for home students.
