Course summary
The BA (Hons) in Sociology has been designed to produce informed, active and inspiring graduates who are passionate about understanding and addressing the issues that shape 21st century societies. Following an activist, engaged approach to sociology, the degree equips graduates with the knowledge and skills to make a difference to local, national and global communities. The modules on the programme develop particular insight in the issues, inequalities and lines of contestation that shape modern societies in a globalising world, including gender, race, ethnicity, religion and sexuality. Students are educated to develop a sensitive awareness for diversity and for how their own identities, culture, beliefs and values shape their positionality as social researchers during and beyond their degree.
