BSc (Hons) Sport Management at the University of Winchester provides a multidisciplinary exploration of the global sports industry using a unique blend of knowledge and contemporary research drawn from business management and the social scientific study of sport. The course focuses on a range of dynamic issues currently impacting sport around the world. Examples include: the impact of sports events and sports stadia; the financial significance of sponsorship and advertising in sport; innovations in marketing and branding in sport; and the importance of the media in promoting sport to fans and consumers. Our team of highly qualified educators has designed a supportive learning environment with relatively small class sizes. This is designed to help students more easily build positive relationships with their peers and their tutors. It also allows staff to get to know each student as an individual to help them reach their full potential. The practical learning experiences built into the Sport Management course has been designed with employability firmly in mind and offers the chance for students to apply theory to real-world scenarios. There are options to experience a work placement as an intern, undertake consultancy work with a sports organisation, volunteer for work at sport events and experience studying sport abroad. Exciting opportunities exist for graduates with an understanding of the complex and varied sports industry that combines knowledge of business and management with an awareness of the cultural impact of sport. Graduates have typically pursued careers within sport, leisure, tourism, business, management, education, research, health, sponsorship, hospitality, events, public relations and marketing.

Entry requirements for advanced entry (i.e. into Year 2 and beyond)

Applicants who wish to apply for advanced standing (exemption from part of a programme) based on previous study are considered on an individual basis. Applicants are required to provide transcripts. confirming the module titles and grades they have already achieved, as well as module handbooks and/or programme specifications showing the learning outcomes of the modules completed.

International applicants

We accept a wide range of non-UK qualifications and use UK NARIC (National Recognition Information Centre) guidelines to confirm their equivalence.

Entry requirements

Qualification requirements

Applicants are required to hold a minimum of 2 x A-level or equivalent qualifications (e.g. 2 x BTEC National Subsidiary Diplomas) and we accept all A-level subjects, including Critical Thinking, General Studies and own-language A-levels. We welcome applicants who have completed the Extended Project (EP/EPQ) and points obtained from this qualification will be included in any offer. In addition, we accept a maximum of 32 points from level 3 qualifications below A2 that are included in the tariff (e.g. AS-levels not studied at A-level, music or dance qualifications). If you are a mature student, your application will be considered on its individual merits and work or other professional experience may be taken into consideration in lieu of other published requirements.
