Course summary
Our design-led Architectural Technology BSc equips you with the skills needed for a design, construction and development career. You'll learn architectural composition, technical analysis, and business and management skills through studio projects simulated in a realistic brief. In our dedicated Architectural Technology studio, you'll study architecture fundamentals through theory, sustainability, hand drawing, and physical models. You'll work on real design briefs, gaining a solid understanding of design and construction processes and eventually mastering tools like CAD, graphic software and model-making for communicating design information. You'll also grasp the multidisciplinary and collaborative nature of the modern construction industry, with opportunities to work alongside students from all construction courses in your first year. This BSc provides a framework for private practice or, with a successful MCIAT chartership, running a business in the architectural and construction sectors. It's ideal for those who love design with a technical focus. Our courses use an enquiry-based blended learning approach, including workshops, lectures, tutorials, and independent study. Assessment methods include project work, essays, and exams.
