They are integrated into our typical bachelor’s degrees, meaning you will study for a total of four years (five years if you choose to complete a placement year). Foundation years include modules designed to develop your academic study skills, as well as teaching course-relevant subjects.
Modules
As Business Management student, you will develop knowledge and understanding of the factors that impact on all types of business from larger corporations to small private limited companies. With a Foundation Year option, the first year (year 0 - Level 3) will prepare you for your year 1 - Level 4 study. The year is designed to develop your academic writing, referencing, research and critical thinking skills whilst also introducing you to various business topics laying the foundations for further study. In your first year, you will study six modules which are core across the Business Management portfolio. Studying within a multi-disciplinary context, you’ll learn in a collaborative manner and develop a deeper insight into the wider business environment. You’ll develop a firm foundation of the necessary knowledge, academic and professional skills which you’ll build upon in your second and third years. In the second year, you will study a further four core modules with the option of two specialist modules depending on your named award. In the third and final year of your studies, you will develop further specialist knowledge through an additional three core modules, one specialist module and a final year consultancy project within your chosen specialism.
