Course summary

Our BA Acting degree course offers full-time industry-focused actor-training. This course places a strong emphasis on screen acting – with 50% of the curriculum devoted to this area of the industry – alongside a rigorous training for the stage. During our BA Acting you will:

  • Perform in two full-length public theatre productions
  • Take part in a West End industry showcase
  • Make an original feature film
There will also be an emphasis on fostering the skills needed to create your own work – such as screenwriting and producing. At Collective we champion groups who have traditionally been underrepresented within the Performing Arts – specifically in terms of ethnicity, disability and class. This three-year degree course offers a full-time professional actor-training – allowing you to develop the skills needed for a sustainable career as an actor for stage and screen. YEAR 1 In the first year, the curriculum will help you develop your acting techniques for Realism.

Assessment method

This is a practical course that focuses on assessing the kinds of skills that will help you in your career as an actor. These include: • Oral Assessments (Viva Voces) • Solo, Paired and Group Performances • Filmed Performances (Web Series, Short Film, Feature Film) • Critical Reflections • Live and Filmed Presentations • Portfolio Submissions • Mock Auditions and Self-Tapes • Personal Development Plans

Qualification requirements

Acceptance into the BA Acting is by audition.We audition everyone who applies. The audition process has two rounds. For the first round you will be asked to submit a self-tape. Auditions are free and all applicants are invited to participate in the first round. If you are recalled, the second and final round, will take place over Zoom.The Zoom recall will give you an opportunity to work 121 with one of our tutors – to see if Collective might be right for you – and to ask any questions you have about the course. Only candidates who are pass both stages of the audition, and who are therefore able to demonstrate the required proficiency as an actor, will be considered for a place. In exceptional circumstances, if a candidate passes the audition process, but does not meet the minimum academic requirements, they may still be offered a place if their audition is deemed outstanding.
