Join us in making beautiful, responsible, and impactful design for the future the luxury industry. By focusing on meaningful work, innovation, ethical impact and career success, this course will resonate with students who are passionate about making a difference while pursuing a career in the luxury, fashion, interiors and design sectors. What you will study Situated within the School of Design & Architecture, this innovative, interdisciplinary, three-year degree asks students to consider and critique contemporary notions of luxury in fashion, textiles, lifestyle, and interior design with an emphasis on integrity, sustainability, circularity and social responsibility. The School of D&A capitalises on significant expertise across the areas of fashion, textiles, interiors and sustainable design and digital manufacture. Staff and students from across courses such as Fashion, Fashion Communication, Interior Architecture and Design, Textiles for Fashion & Interiors and Sustainable Design will work with you and alongside you to create the first truly interdisciplinary experience at Arts University Bournemouth. One of the fundamental aims of the School of D&A is to enable our graduates to enter a diverse, rapidly changing and global employment marketplace. We want our students to not only see their values reflected in who they choose to work for when they graduate but also in the products and experiences they consume; our students are also, increasingly, expecting to see their values reflected and practiced in the educational choices they make. The BA (Hons) Sustainable Luxury: Fashion & Interiors course will foster a deep understanding of how to create, design, craft, promote and manage innovative product and content for, and responses to, the exponentially growing luxury market, while upholding the highest standards of environmental consciousness, social justice, and inclusivity across a developing global market and changing customer and client demographic. By the end of the course you will be able to Integrate sustainability and responsible design practices into every aspect of your luxury fashion, interiors and lifestyle concepts whilst embedding a deep understanding of the circularity of supply and manufacture as well as the social impact of your decisions. Think critically about the impact of your designs, from sourcing materials to the social, cultural, economic and political implications of your work to ensure a positive contribution to both society and the environment. Focus on designing for an increasingly diverse luxury market and audience, ensuring inclusive approaches to design across fashion and interior design which will cater for a wide array of needs, backgrounds, and abilities. Be prepared to lead in the luxury fashion and interior design industries, not only as creative and skilled professionals but also as champions of sustainability and social responsibility by applying the knowledge, tools, and ethical foundations which will enable you to shape the future of these industries while making a positive impact on the world.
