Our BA Theatre Studies gives you the chance to study theatre in one of the most vibrant and exciting theatre cities in the world putting you at the heart of central London’s dynamic arts and culture scene. You will have the option to wholly focus on theatre studies or instead minor in one of the following five areas of study to gain a BA Theatre Studies with:
- Arts Management
- Creative Writing
- English
- Environmental Studies
- Film and Media Studies.
- Taught by world-leading academics and award-winning theatre makers, your academic study of theatre history, theory and practice will grow out of the here and now of London theatre today.
- Throughout your degree you will visit the world’s most exciting theatre institutions, attend cutting-edge performances, and learn to analyse them within the context of global theatre history and contemporary theatre theory.
- You will gain access to knowledge, skills and networks that will support your future career in the creative industries.
- You will design your own approach to the interdisciplinary study of theatre with the flexibility to pursue your interests and professional ambitions.

Depending on the module, assessment methods include research essays, research exercises, performance presentations, creative projects, critical reflections on practical work, group and individual vivas.

International applicants
If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests. We welcome applicants without traditional entry qualifications as we base decisions on our own assessment of qualifications, knowledge and previous work experience. We may waive formal entry requirements based on judgement of academic potential. FOUNDATION YEAR DEGREES Our 'with Foundation Year' route is designed to give you extra support as it provides you with an additional year (full-time) or two years (part-time) of supported study. This is an ideal route if you are returning to study after a gap, or if you have not previously studied this subject, or if you did not achieve the grades you need for a place on this degree. Once you successfully complete your Foundation Year studies, you will automatically advance onto the main degree.
