This degree builds on the industry-recognised HNC/D programmes. All first year entrants will start on the HNC and the entry requirements are therefore for this programme. Successful completion will allow you to progress to the second year of the HND. Following achievement of the HND, you can progress to the third year of the degree. Applicants already holding a relevant HNC qualification can apply for direct entry to the second year. When completing your application make sure you choose year two. Applicants already holding a relevant HND qualification can apply for direct entry to year three, again where this is the case please make sure you choose year three when completing your application. If you are looking for a successful career in the fast-moving computing industry, the BSc (Hons) Computing degree is for you. You will learn all the knowledge and skills you need to work in this sector, as well as developing key personal and intellectual qualities necessary for continued professional development. In years three and four you can choose to study for a generic degree in computing or you can specialise in software development or technical support. This will allow you to exit at the end of the fourth year with a themed award, for example: BSc (Hons) Computing (Networking and Cybersecurity) or BSc (Hons) Computing (Software Engineering). The course provides a high-quality design/development web education that has been designed to meet employers’ requirements. When you graduate, you will be well-equipped to implement and manage web design and development projects from start to finish.

Entry to year two, HND, is an appropriate computing based HNC, such as HNC Computing or HNC Information Technology Entry to year three of the degree is an appropriate computing-based HND such as: HND Computer Science; HND Technologies in Business; HND Software Development; HND Technical Support; or HND Information Technology.

Additional fee information
This is a Top-Up Degree whereby Year 1 of the course comprises an HNC and in some cases Year 2 an HND. Courses which comprise an HN award as their first and/or second year will be charged the Higher National fee for the first and/or second year, increasing to the degree fee rate after this. Please see the course page for specific fees details. RUK students will be charged the RUK HN fee for the Higher National portion of the programme and the degree portion will be charge at the RUK degree fee, the fourth year of consecutive study on the programme is free.
EU/EEA and Swiss nationals starting their study in Scotland from academic year 2021-22, who do not have settled status, will be considered as international for fee purposes. For 2021-22, the university offered an automatic scholarship for the degree (3rd) year and the 4th year of study free for those studying full-time, on continuous study. A decision on scholarships for 2022-23 entry is still to be confirmed.
