Course summary

A focus on the key aspect of species conservation, within a captive setting, promoting natural environments and behaviours to support conservation efforts. There is an emphasis on project work that concentrates on specific areas of individual interest. The college has developed a range of industry related resources to support the delivery of this foundation degree by a team of well-qualified staff. This programme offers students the opportunity to develop skills and enhance knowledge across a range of animal based industries including collections management, and wildlife conservation. Making use of the on campus facilities, University Centre Askham Bryan has access to its own licensed and BIAZA accredited wildlife park, Askham Bryan Wildlife and Conservation Park. With this resource on site, students have access to a fully working collection, accessing the resources can have the ability to get involved with the park during your study. This programme requires students to undertake 300 hours of work placement, 150 of which will be undertaken in the colleges licenced and BIAZA accredited wildlife and conservation park in the first year.

Assessment method

Assessments may include; Course work, TCA's, online assessment, presentations, Viva-voce and practical assessments.
