OVERVIEW Are you pursuing a career in areas such as fitness training or coaching? As two of the biggest sectors within the sports industry, coaching and fitness offer a vast array of opportunities for supporting people to achieve their personal goals. Our Sport, Coaching and Fitness top-up course will enable you to expand upon your current knowledge in this area to get you ready for a range of industry roles. This one-year course is designed for anyone who has previously studied a relevant subject (up to Level 5), and will help you build further skills and knowledge related to topics such as health and wellness through physical activity, nutrition and inclusive coaching for working with different groups, including disability sport and Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will also be able to conduct your own research project into an area of the industry that interests you and matches your career aims. Throughout our sport and fitness top-up course, you will have access to outstanding practical training facilities including our Human Performance Centre, gyms and outdoor sports facilities. You will also have opportunities to gain additional qualifications and practical experience alongside your studies, ensuring you are ready to hit the ground running in the sports industry. *Note: extra qualifications may incur an additional fee FACILITIES Students on our sports courses have access to a wide range of excellent facilities at University College Birmingham. Our Human Performance Centre features the latest equipment including a 35m sprint track, eight lifting platforms, 7m rig and large screens displaying live analysis data. We also have a purpose-built Human Performance Laboratory which hosts an anti-gravity treadmill, isokinetic dynamometer, Monark LC7 cycle ergometer and SECA body composition analyser. We also share the impressive £3m Avery Fields complex with Bournville RFC, offering an all-weather pitch, two grass pitches and a clubhouse with function room and modern changing facilities. PLACEMENTS We encourage students on our course to gain work experience throughout your studies. The 'Work-Based Learning for Sport' module incorporates a work placement. Employers we have worked with include Warwickshire County Cricket Club, Wasps Rugby Academy, West Bromwich Albion FC Women, Easy Gym and Vibro-Suite Health and Wellness Club. Assessment method

Additional fee information

UK: If you are a UK student enrolling on a Foundation Degree or a BA/BSc at University College Birmingham, your fee for this academic year will be £9,250. A half year tuition fee is £4625. This is a yearly fee, and will increase with inflation in subsequent years (in line with the government’s permitted rise). If you are an English student studying your first higher education qualification, you can apply for a tuition fee loan from the Student Loans Company. You will not start repaying this loan until you leave the course and are earning over £25,000 a year. If you live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, you should apply to Student Finance Wales, Student Finance Northern Ireland, or SAAS.
