This course is designed to be accessible to people from different academic and professional backgrounds. You’ll develop broad-based, interdisciplinary social science skills needed for careers focused on sustainability transformations. The course is critical and constructive, drawing on ideas and concepts from:
- development studies
- science, technology and society studies
- innovation studies
- political science
- economics
- geography.
- Governments and firms in the Global South and North
- international development agencies and consultancies
- social enterprises, not for profit and non-governmental organisations.

Assessment method
Modules are assessed by a combination of analysis assignments, project presentations and extended essays.
Entry requirements
A lower 2nd Class (2.2) undergraduate Honours degree or above in either social or natural sciences, or humanities. Applicants with relevant professional experience will also be considered. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum 6.0 in each component) or equivalent.
