Course summary

Explore the social structures and discourses of gender – our expert faculty offer guidance and supervision through a wide range of research projects. You could work on topics such as:

  • social aspects of gender including work and/or family life
  • the politics of the body
  • the construction of gendered discourses, experiences and identities
  • women’s, feminist and LGBTQ social movements.

Entry requirements

You’re normally expected to have a Masters degree and an upper second-class (2.1) undergraduate honours degree. Your qualification should be in gender studies or a related subject area but you may still be considered for the degree if you have a qualification in a different subject area. In certain circumstances, you may also be considered for the degree if you have other relevant professional qualifications or relevant research experience of equivalent standing.
