Course summary
This course sets a foundation for your journey to employment, creating great opportunities in the health promotion and health development sectors. Expect to explore the core fundamentals of primary education. You will learn about educational practices throughout history and the impact previous perspectives had on child development. You’ll have the opportunity to reflect critically on how radical changes have shaped how education is taught today, while analysing methods of effective engagement with young children aged 0-8. Additionally, you will be provided with opportunities to undertake work experience (subject to availability) in local schools to better understand how theory is put into practice. This Higher National Certificate (HNC) follows the curriculum for Year 1 of the Primary Education and Teaching Studies BA (Hons) degree course. The University also accepts the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate/BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma and BTEC Level 3 National Diploma/BTEC Level 3 Diploma for entry onto degree programmes, provided that they are studied in combination with other qualifications that are equivalent to three A2 Levels. This may include subject specific requirements where necessary.
