This course is open to students who have an interest in developing and furthering their knowledge on international business to meet their career aspirations. Students who apply for this course normally have a 2:1 bachelor's degree or suitable work experience. How you learn All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive. You learn through workshops traditional formal lectures supporting seminars problem solving exercises case studies individual and group presentations directed learning activities direct engagement with industry This course is delivered mostly face to face over three semesters - teaching is scheduled based on the length of your course and the academic calendar. Applied learning You will have the opportunity for practical learning on this course. This may include engaging in business simulations, an international consultancy project, guest speakers and visits to companies and other organisations. These opportunities will give you the chance to develop your practical skills in a real-world setting. Work placements This course also has a work experience route. Work experience is embedded on this course, providing you with a great opportunity to develop your practical skills in the UK or abroad. It also allows you to gain vital industry contacts for your future career. We help you gain a placement by running employability workshops and have a dedicated work experience team to support you. Live projects The course features an international consultancy project opportunity, supported by Venture Matrix, where you carry out assessed projects based on real-world business solutions for local organisations. The project aims to enhance your business awareness and improve your employment prospects. The opportunity to visit and communicate regularly with a company will be particularly beneficial to international students from the point of view of business engagement and real-life practical experience. Networking opportunities You will have access to postgraduate career development initiatives provided by SBS, which may include, leadership programmes, management skills workshops, CV writing, networking opportunities and career management activities led by the SBS careers team. Future careers This course prepares you for a career in business development marketing human resource management project management consultancy trade Some students return home to apply their expertise in family firms. A small number of the highest academic achievers may continue their education through PhD study. Entry requirements

You normally need one of the following: A good bachelors degree from an approved degree awarding body, university or college, in a business-related field; Professional qualification(s) by examination, recognised as being the equivalent of a bachelors degree in a business-related field with additional evidence to justify the equivalence of the qualification; A specified diploma in a business-related field that, on satisfactory completion, allows you to follow a course of study for a masters degree. If English is not your first language you will need an IELTS score of 6.5 overall and a minimum of 6.0 in all skills, or a recognised equivalent. You may also be able to claim credit points which can reduce the amount of time it takes to complete your qualification at Sheffield Hallam.

Additional fee information

Our tuition fee for UK students on full-time undergraduate degree courses in 2025/26 is £9,535 per year. These fees are regulated by the UK government and therefore subject to change in future years. During your placement year you will pay a reduced fee of £1,200. If you are studying an undergraduate course, postgraduate pre-registration course or postgraduate research course over more than one academic year then your tuition fees may increase in subsequent years in line with Government regulations or UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) published fees.
