Course summary
Discover how to become creative and experimental artist within the fashion industry on our BA (Hons) Fashion Photography degree at UCA Epsom. You will explore established and expanded conventions within contemporary fashion photography and produce highly creative original work using industry-standard facilities. Along the way, you’ll benefit from a wealth of industry expertise, work with fashion stylists and make-up artists, use our extensive fashion facilities, and develop in-depth practical and professional skills. You’ll also be able to undertake a work placement. Staff teaching within the cluster include photographers and image makers, stylists, makeup artists, archivists, and experienced academics. They work across a range of outputs for clients including Vogue, ID, Show Studio, VICE, BBC, The Guardian, and Wired. Our students have gone on to work as photographers, retouchers and studio assistants, and have worked with industry connections including Hermes, Indoi and Men’s File magazine. Related courses

Modules
In Year 1 you'll consider the significance of environments from a variety of cultural, social and political perspectives. You'll explore questions of gender, sexuality, ethnicity, morality, social position and individual representation influence consumer choice. You'll also examine the constructed nature of images and the creation of meaning through various modes of visual production and presentation. In Year 2 you'll build concepts for fashion firms the learn the technical and professional skills necessary to realise those concepts and successfully promote fashion through moving image. You'll explore narrative conventions through a series of contextual lectures and technical workshops, and you'll consider your practice in relation to audiences, publication and the dissemination of photographic work. In Year 3 you'll draw upon the skills you've gained to produce a significant body of work, as well as a dissertation.
