Course Overview
- Our award-winning Animation degree covers stop motion, 2D animation and 3D digital animation that will help you develop the practical skills and technical expertise you need to create your own film by the end of the course.
- Rooted in creative thinking and self-expression and accompanied by a good technical knowledge of current industry practices, you will learn skills in script writing, character design, storyboarding, animating, VFX and compositing, editing and sound design.
- The course is taught by current practising professionals and is supported by fantastic animation facilities and dedicated studios catering for CGI, stop frame, 2D, illustrative, set building, model-making and sound recording, editing and sound design - all supported with the latest animation software, including Toon Boom and Dragonframe.
- Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Animation is ranked 7th in the UK with 90% of students satisfied with the teaching quality (Times Good University Guide 2021).
- Our Animation students have been North West Royal Television Society Student Award winners nine times in the regional awards, with one win in the national awards.
- The University is one of only a few institutions in the country to provide Skillset funded training for professional animators in CelAction software.
