Economics and International Finance with a Year in Industry

Course summary

Look beyond the financial headlines and ask key questions about what’s happening behind the scenes. How do companies make financial decisions? What risk management strategies are in place? How do global financial markets influence firms and policymakers?   We’ve designed this course to focus on finance and strategy on an international level, starting with a whole module on the world economy in your first semester. Academic experts will also discuss other research areas in bond and foreign exchange markets, financial derivatives, international trade, and much more.  With a wide choice of modules in the final year, you also can direct your studies according to your interests or career goals, from behavioural economics to corporate strategy and the finance of emerging markets.   Everything you need for success  You’ll learn practical skills in our Bloomberg trading terminals, Interactive Brokers Trader Workstations (TWS), and FXCM FX Trading Stations. At the same time, you’ll gain industry insights through our connections with the Bank of England, HM Treasury, and other financial institutions and professional bodies.  After you graduate, you can register for the Investment Management Certificate exam – a professional qualification highly valued by employers.
