Course summary

As we enter a period of dramatic economic and political change, there has never been a more exciting time to study international business. Today’s businesses operate in a dynamic global business environment in which managers have to deal with rapidly changing markets and a climate of tremendous uncertainty. These challenges call for new skills and new thinking as businesses strive to reinvent and innovate. The MSc International Business has been carefully crafted to reflect the complex, dynamic and multifaceted character of this contemporary subject area. The focus is very much on developing you as you acquire the skills and attributes necessary for the leaders, entrepreneurs and policy makers of tomorrow in management, strategy and decision making and communication. You'll also develop a clear understanding of the environment in which international businesses operate in terms of economics, finance and governance, as well as politics and culture. Research methods run through the whole course, preparing you for the dissertation in Term 3. The dissertation provides an opportunity for you to set yourself apart and demonstrate to potential employers a high level of thinking in a specialist area. This work is supported and supervised by experienced, research active members of staff, and may lead to publication. If you choose to specialise in either marketing or finance through electives and a dissertation in these areas, you may be awarded the MSc International Business with Marketing or and MSc International Business with Finance. Assessment method

There are no exams on this course. All summative assessment is based on a mix of assignments, presentations, reports, case study analysis, group work and reflective pieces. There is a final dissertation in semester 3.


Entry requirements

The MSc International Business is suitable for both graduates with a relevant business degree or those who are wishing to move into the business area and have keen interest in this subject. In both cases a good honours degree at 2.2 or above and English proficiency to English Academic IELTS 6.5 is required.
