Course summary

Focus on real-life projects and interact with modern and historic buildings as you learn how to maintain and protect them as a chartered surveyor. Whether you’re looking for a route into construction or you want to become a chartered surveyor, this Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) accredited course will prepare you to progress to chartered building surveyor status. As part of your course, you'll:

  • Gain the practical skills and theoretical knowledge that supports your role as a building surveyor in protecting, maintaining and refurbishing both modern and historic buildings
  • Study building pathology, construction law and the technology behind building refurbishment

Modules

Core modules: Construction law principles; defects and repairs; design and specification; environment, services and maintenance management; major project; managing the property asset; research methods; sustainable construction.


Entry requirements

Applicants should either have at least a 2nd Class Honours degree in a cognate subject, at least a 2nd Class Honours degree in a non-cognate subject supported by evidence of an aptitude for the subject applied for, or have equivalent experience or training, normally from within the work environment. All applicants should be in relevant employment at the point of commencing the course. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum 5.5 in each component) or equivalent.
