Accounting, Finance and Management at University of Bristol - UCAS

Course summary

This highly successful MSc programme is designed for students who aspire to deepen their expertise in accounting, finance, and management topics in their graduate studies. The interdisciplinary approach integrates these key fields and provides a comprehensive understanding that is both academically rigorous and relevant to the current business environment. Tailored for students from diverse academic backgrounds who have some quantitative training (such as mathematics, statistics, or econometrics), this programme offers a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. You'll benefit from learning under academics renowned globally for their research in accounting, finance, and management, ensuring you receive cutting-edge insights and a solid foundation in these disciplines. In teaching block one, you will develop essential skills and foundational knowledge in accounting, finance, and management, preparing you for the advanced topics covered in teaching block two. The curriculum includes three core units, supplemented by your choice of optional units across the key areas of accounting, finance, and management, allowing you to tailor your studies to your specific interests and career goals. An element of the programme across the whole year of study is a dissertation project, where you can explore and investigate a topic from a range of options. This project will enable you to apply literature search skills using both electronic and traditional sources, culminating in a piece of original research that demonstrates your ability to apply what you’ve learned in a practical, real-world context. Teaching for this postgraduate programme will be delivered at our new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus, opening 2026. Here, enhanced links with industry and collaborative learning spaces will provide students with real-world knowledge, networks and skills to succeed once you graduate. Depending on your choice of optional units, you may also be taught on the Clifton Campus.

How to apply

International applicants

The University of Bristol welcomes applications from international students and accepts a wide range of qualifications for postgraduate study. If you study or have studied at a university outside the UK, please select the relevant page for further information on qualifications, scholarships and education representatives in your country/region: bristol.ac.uk/international/countries.

Entry requirements

You will typically need an upper second-class honours degree or an international equivalent in a quantitative subject (whether as a single, joint, or combined honours degree) such as Accounting and Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Engineering, Finance, International Economics and Trade, Maths, Physics or Commerce (with specialism in Accounting/Finance/A&F/Economics). OR If your degree subject is not listed above, you must have evidence of an upper second-class honours degree or international equivalent which includes three different units of mathematics from the Maths qualification requirements list below, with 60% (UK equivalent) or above in each unit. OR A-level Mathematics with grade A if no mathematics or quantitative units in your degree. We will consider your application if your interim grades are currently slightly lower than the programme's entry requirements and may make you an aspirational offer. This offer would be at the standard level, so you would need to achieve the standard entry requirements by the end of your degree. Specific module requirements would still apply. If your achieved grade is lower than our entry requirements, your application may be more likely to receive an offer if you have additional relevant work experience or qualifications. If you have at least one of the following, please include your CV (curriculum vitae/résumé) when you apply, showing: - Evidence of 5 years relevant work experience in Accounting and Finance related roles, such as Financial reporting, Management accounting, Auditing or Project management and business roles focused on data and analytics. - A relevant postgraduate qualification. See international equivalent qualifications on the International Office website: https://www.bristol.ac.uk/international/countries/
