Our MSc in International Aviation Regulation and Law will give you the skills and knowledge you need to learn how to apply global aviation regulations within the industry, as well as focusing on contract law, commercial law and civil law. Throughout the course, you will learn from skilled lecturers within the School of Aviation and Security who have a high level of working knowledge based on industry experience. Our tutors will give you the practical, managerial and intellectual skills to use within aviation regulation and law roles. As well as receiving top-class lectures and seminars, students are also supported by personal tutors, module leaders and course leaders. In addition, students often have the opportunity to engage with external experts to enrich their learning and understand current and emerging trends. Our collaboration with ICAO and the CAA, ACI Europe, and our wide network of associate contributors, will also provide you with the opportunity to gain the unique insights that you’ll need to be able to contribute to highly effective regulatory and legal management. To aid your learning, you’ll take part in simulation-based activities to develop team and individual capabilities in the face of challenging scenarios. You’ll also be able to use our library to support your studies, whether you’re looking for the resources you need or just a quiet place to study. This one-year course consists of five modules. There are three specialist, technical modules (Airline Regulation and Law, Airport Regulation and Law, Airspace Regulation and Law) which aim to equip you with a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory and legal frameworks which underpin the industry. These are then complemented with two academic and professional development modules (Aviation Research Project and Air Transport Management and Leadership). We've invested in a range of state-of-the-art facilities across our campuses to support your learning. Our library is the perfect place to find the resources you need and a quiet place to study, filled with four floors of books, journals, computer suites and study rooms.

Assessment method

You will be assessed through individual and group activities which take place throughout the duration of the course. Summative assessment will be based on real-world cases and projects on a consultancy basis and involve presentations, investigations with report findings and recommendations and business case proposals.

Entry requirements

Entrants to the programme will normally have achieved a minimum of a lower second class honours degree in a related field. Applicants who have a minimum of three years industry management experience may qualify for entry without holding a first degree. If your first language is not English, we will require evidence of English language proficiency to IELTS (6.5) 6.0 or equivalent. Please note, this course is available subject to a minimum number of students enrolling.
