Course summary

Are you sure you want to work in the creative media industry but unsure which path to take? CCG offers students a versatile and flexible way to achieve Higher Education qualifications in the creative industries. Equivalent to the first two years of a university course, the HND in Creative Multimedia with Journalism has a broad media base that reflects a professional working environment. The course offers students a vocational progression route to higher level study offering an exciting variety of units that focus on all areas of the media industry. In year one you’ll study television and radio production and digital print journalism and in year two you’ll move on to narrative moving image production and investigative journalism. The course is designed for you to build your overall production skills ready for the industry, widen areas of specialism and fundamentally allowing you to keep your options open as you explore the jobs market for the creative industries. For some students, studying the HNC and HND provides a more open and flexible route towards a full bachelor’s degree, where they can secure a higher level qualification at the end of each year as they progress, save money in the process and remain local. Special features of this programme include: • You can progress onto a final top-up year and achieve a full degree at the end of year two • Working on live assignment briefs and widen your career options in the media industry • Small group sizes ensure you get the support you need to succeed At the end of the course you will have the opportunity to celebrate your achievement with a full graduation ceremony at Chichester Cathedral.

Assessment method

You will be assessed through portfolio based course work and work experience. You will be able to select a method of recording creative development to suit your needs, usually in the form of digital or traditional sketchbook. Some outcomes may be assessed through professional pitch. You will be taught in a nurturing environment with lots of expert support from our experienced and industry qualified tutors. They will teach you through a blend of lectures, guest speakers, seminars, case studies as well as individual and group work.

Mature students would be considered without academic qualifications if they can demonstrate a strong creative portfolio or industry experience. All students need to show at interview the desire to succeed in a demanding and ever changing creative industry.
