Course summary
If you are seeking to move into a career in finance, our MSc in Finance and Investment will give you the practical and academically-rigorous grounding you need. Covering everything from financial market frameworks and concepts, through to strategic decision making and risk management, you will gain a realistic insight into current practice in the finance and investment world, and be expertly equipped with a toolbox of financial techniques you can apply in your work from day one. This course has been accredited by the Global Association of Risk Professionals and the CFA institute under the former name of MSc Finance. We are currently working towards affiliation of the new name MSc Finance and Investment.
Modules
Compulsory modules: fundamentals of financial management; financial instruments; financial statement analysis; fund management; risk management; corporate financial strategy; quantitative research methods. Optional modules: corporate financial reporting; financial engineering; principles of financial intermediation; financial investments in practice; masters; dissertation.
Assessment method
Assessments will be a mix of assignments, supervised mini-projects, role playing exercises, group work, simulations, presentations and examinations.

Entry requirements
An honours degree of 2:2 or above in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, Business-related subjects, Mathematics or another quantitative subject. If you don't meet the above grade requirements but have at least 12 months relevant professional experience and/ or equivalent qualifications, we'll consider you on an individual basis.
English language requirements
International and EU applicants are required to have a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 with 5.5 in each component (or approved equivalent*). *The University accepts a large number of UK and international qualifications in place of IELTS.
