Blending online and face-to-face learning, the course is tailored to fit around your work and personal commitments. You’ll explore key areas such as curriculum design, assessment strategies, educational leadership, and the use of technology in learning, all grounded in evidence-based teaching practice. With a focus on self-reflection and person-centred learning, you’ll build the confidence to guide, mentor, and inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals. We offer a medical student intercalation programme for this course for 3rd & 4th year medical students from KMMS or other medical schools. Specialist facilities Taught by expert educators and clinicians in our state-of-the-art Verena Holmes building, you’ll benefit from industry-standard facilities, including advanced simulation suites and the Anatomy Learning Centre. Professional accreditation This course is delivered by Kent and Medway Medical School and accredited by both Canterbury Christ Church University and the Academy of Medical Educators (AoME). Graduates of the PGCert stage are eligible to apply for Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and Membership of the Academy of Medical Educators (AoME), enhancing both professional recognition and career progression.

Assessment method

Assessment in the MSc Clinical Education is designed to evaluate a broad range of skills and knowledge, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of clinical education. Assessment methods include coursework, essays, and presentations, each tailored to develop and demonstrate specific competencies. The final module will be a 30 or 60 credit large research project.


Entry requirements

This course is aimed at Interprofessional health and social care professionals, including Doctors, Nurses, Midwives, Dentists and Allied Health and Social Care professionals, as well as intercalating medical students. Applicants should normally possess a relevant first degree in health/social sciences, 2:2 or above. It is essential that you undertake 100 hours of higher education teaching and learning practice involving learners who who are studying at undergraduate or postgraduate level across 1 year. This teaching and learning practice can be performed within formal academic or clinical settings but must involve facilitation of learning for students who are studying on higher education programmes and can be interprofessional.
