Course Summary The BA (Hons) Writing for the Creative Industries at LMA is a dynamic, hands-on degree that prepares students for careers in the creative sectors. This course combines writing skills with industry insights, focusing on areas such as scriptwriting, narrative design, concept and ideas creationg and storytelling across different disciplines in the Creative Industries such as film, TV, games, and digital platforms. Over three years, students will develop their creative writing, collaborate with peers, and work on live projects to build a professional portfolio. You’ll gain expertise in writing across different genres and formats, from character creation and narrative structure to scriptwriting and interactive storytelling. You’ll also explore the role of emerging technologies like AI in creative writing and engage in collaborative projects, building both your technical writing skills and industry-specific knowledge to prepare for a successful career in the creative industries.

Assessment method

Assessment throughout the course is practical and industry-focused, reflecting real-world expectations. You will be assessed through the creation of scripts, portfolios, concept pitches, and live projects, with regular feedback from tutors and industry professionals. Instead of traditional exams, assessments are project-based, focusing on your creative work and ability to meet industry standards. This ensures that you are evaluated on the skills that are essential for a career in the creative industries.

International applicants

This course is unable to accept international applicants who need a Tier 4 Student Visa to study in the UK as LMA does not hold a UKVI licence

Qualification requirements

LMA are happy to accept a wide range of qualifications, including but not limited to: A Levels, BTEC Extended Diploma, OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma, BTEC Subsidiary Diploma(s), Access to HE courses, Scottish Highers, IB Diploma Programme, Foundation Diploma in Art and Design, RSL Level 3 Diploma and T Levels. We also welcome students who have a combination of qualifications - e.g. 2 A Levels and 1 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma and an extended project. Our academic entry criteria from qualifications you are currently taking is 96 UCAS tariff points and your offer will be tailored to reflect this. We assess all applications individually.
