Course summary
How do we learn? What place do power and privilege play in education? Delve into topics like these as you explore the world of education from conception to our early 20s. Our BA Education Studies with a Foundation Year starts with essential skills such as research, evaluation and communication to prepare you for degree level study. Passing this foundation year leads to year one of our BA Education Studies degree, where you’ll develop strong critical and analytical skills in psychology, sociology, history and the philosophy of education. From Wittgenstein to forest schools, diversity and inclusion to social justice, you’ll study education and its impact on human development and society, from the medieval age to the present day and beyond. Develop career-enhancing skills with annual placements; optional field trips plus an optional year at partner universities abroad. If you discover a passion for supporting children with additional needs, you can switch to the special educational needs, disability and inclusion (SENDI) pathway at the end of your first year.
